BEFORE PETSHINE, in order to keep our pets clean, we
were limited to the following options, along with their accompanying
inconveniences:
|
| Using
our own shower and bathroom: |
|
•
The
washroom gets dirty, and the owner gets wet as the pet attempts
to shake off excess water from its fur.
• Bending over to scrub and rinse our pet can be very
uncomfortable and tiring.
• Drying the pet with a household hairdryer is time
consuming. It could possibly harm the pet, and could also
damage the hairdryer.
• If we have more than one dog in the house, all of
the above problems are multiplied. |

|
|
| Hiring
a groomer or veterinarian to do the job: |
•
An appointment is typically required, and we have to return
some time later to pick up the pet. We are, therefore, at
the mercy of the groomer’s schedule.
• Even a very dirty pet should only be washed once.
Immediately repeating a wash that involves scrubbing can be
harmful to the animal’s protective layer of dermatological
oils.
• The pet is typically in a state of anxiety. It might
be tethered to the groomer’s wash basin, and/or muzzled
by the groomer.
• In the case of more aggressive pets, it’s the
owner who is required to lift and remove the animal into the
groomer’s wash basin. If the owner is not present, the
groomer might resort to some form of sedative, or refuse the
pet entirely
• The pet is usually frightened by the sudden blast
of air that comes from the turbine-style driers used by many
of today’s groomers.
• It can get pretty expensive. |
